Mancini could consider Shay Given departure
Mancini: Given can go
Given started the opening game of City's Premier League campaign on the bench and saw Joe Hart produce a string of impressive saves in a 0-0 draw with Tottenham at White Hart Lane.
Prior to the Spurs game, Given said: "I haven't joined Manchester City to sit on the bench or whatever. I've gone there to play."
It is reported that the Irishman is now ready to consider leaving Eastlands in search of regular football. Arsenal, who have spent the summer chasing Mark Schwarzer, are reported to be possible suitors for Given while Fulham, if they lose Schwarzer to the Gunners, could also be interested.
Mancini says he will let Given leave City if the player no longer wishes to stay at the club.
"I hope he can stay," Mancini said. "But I respect his decision if he wants to leave."
Arsenal have been linked with Given but it is Schwarzer who appears more likely to move to Emirates Stadium having handed in a transfer request at Fulham.
With a new goalkeeper possibly arriving before the close of the transfer window, Lukasz Fabianski says he will redouble his efforts to impress Arsene Wenger after producing a string of errors last season.
"As a player you have to prove you deserve a chance," Fabianski told the club's official website. "I can understand every single shout against me and it can only motivate me to play better and work harder.
"But of course I am going to do everything in my power to show that I deserve to be respected, then maybe they [the Arsenal fans] will start singing my name - that would be wonderful."
