Liverpool have confirmed that Middlesbrough goalkeeper Brad Jones will complete a £2.3 million move to Anfield and join the club on a three-year deal on Tuesday.
A fee has been agreed with the Championship club and Liverpool announced that Jones had passed a medical late on Monday night.
Jones, 28, is being recruited as a deputy for established number one Jose Reina, who despite his last-minute error against Arsenal on Sunday is regarded by many as the Premier League's best goalkeeper.
Though Liverpool have Brazilian Diego Cavalieri and Frenchman Charles Itandje on their books, Jones is poised to become their sixth signing of the summer following Joe Cole, Danny Wilson, Christian Poulsen, Milan Jovanovic and Jonjo Shelvey.
Middlesbrough are now braced to lose their academy graduate, who has made 57 league appearances in ten years at The Riverside.
Jones has spent loan spells with Stockport, Rotherham, Blackpool and Sheffield Wednesday, but impressed last season when making 23 league starts for Boro.
