Benfica president puts €40m price tag on Luiz
In-demand defender David Luiz will not be leaving Benfica unless they receive an offer in excess of €40 million according to the Portuguese club.
Luiz has been linked with Chelsea and Manchester City, with Carlo Ancelotti reportedly keen to replace the departed Ricardo Carvalho with the Brazilian at Stamford Bridge.
However, Benfica have already lost Angel Di Maria to Real Madrid this summer and now the 23-year-old Luiz will not be allowed to leave the club unless a massive offer comes in.
"We would only begin talks over an offer of about €40million,'' said Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira. ''It would be impossible to consider any offer less than that because it would be bad business for us. I want David Luiz to stay at the club for this season."
