Blackpool boss Holloway still keen on new signings

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway admits his side still needs strengthening, despite an opening day thrashing of Wigan.

Holloway presided over the club's stunning return to the top flight for the first time in 39 years and a 4-0 win over the Latics owed much to a few of the new faces at Bloomfield Road.

Craig Cathcart, Marlon Harewood, Elliot Grandin and Ludovic Sylvestre have all been brought to the club, but the manager still wants further reinforcements.

"It was like waiting for a bus last week and all of a sudden six players turn up. Hallelujah," he said in The Sun. "Normally the players already at a club are worried but not my lot. They welcomed them.

"We've just been catapulted into this and I have to say it's just mad. It's like being in Big Brother. I need a few more players but they're all so expensive - it's a shock. But hopefully my chairman will now be more confident in who I'm telling him to bring in after that performance."

Holloway also claimed that he was glad the club had not signed anyone who did not want to be there - alluding to Manchester City's capture of former Inter Milan striker Mario Balotelli.

"I'm just glad I'm not at Manchester City, signing a player who says he'd rather stay in Italy," he added. "What on earth are we all doing in this world? That's what our advantage is. None of my boys sulk. I won't let them."
