Parker set to sign five-year deal with West Ham

Scott Parker will sign a new bumper five-year contract on Tuesday to end all the speculation that he will be going to Tottenham or Liverpool.

West Ham co-owner David Sullivan has informed Soccernet that the contract has been agreed and the deal would keep Parker in east London, effectively, for the rest of his career.

''We expect Parker to sign a new contract on Tuesday,'' Sullivan said.

Sullivan has been angered by persistent links to Spurs, and has grown so weary he has even threatened to report them to the Premier League, but all that will become academic once Parker signs on the dotted line.

The unhappy Hammers issued a public declaration that Parker wouldn't be sold but it didn't stop Spurs lodging a £7 million bid which was rejected out of hand.

Sullivan has previously insisted that the 29-year-old is "not for sale at any price, to anyone".

"I made a promise that I would not sell Scott and I will not, for any amount of money, break that promise to the West Ham supporters," he told the club's website last week. "For far too long, have had owners that sell their best players and promise one thing and do another. This is a new era. We are building a bigger, better West Ham and when we make a promise, we honour it."
