Chile World Cup star Gonzalo Jara has become the latest player to commit his future to West Brom after signing a new three-year contract at the Hawthorns.
Jara, 24, has been a real success since his £1.4 million move from Colo Colo last summer and is now tied to the club until 2013, with the Baggies possessing the option of extending that by a further year.
The defender/midfielder joins Graham Dorrans, Chris Brunt and Youssouf Mulumbu in signing new contracts with the club this summer and Roberto Di Matteo is delighted to have agreed the new deal with a player who made four appearances at the World Cup finals.
"Gonzo fully deserves this new contract," Di Matteo said. "He has proved an excellent acquisition and played a big part in our promotion success last season before his unfortunate injury.
"He is a total professional, has a terrific attitude and his versatility is a real asset to the squad. Gonzo has all the attributes needed to play in the Premier League and I believe he has a big role to play this season within the framework of the team."
