Birmingham City captain Stephen Carr has signed a new contract with the club that will keep him at St Andrew's until the end of the coming season.
Carr, 33, enjoyed an impressive campaign last year as he made 40 appearances in all competitions for Birmingham.
The Irish right back was lured out of retirement by Alex McLeish in February 2009 and admits he is pleased with his choice to return to professional football.
"I've got to be honest, I couldn't see any of this happening 18 months ago," Carr told the club's official website, "and now I just can't wait to get started on Saturday.
"I know all of the lads think exactly the same - they are relishing the challenge, and it's one we're determined to rise to."
