Madjid Bougherra says he has listened to the pleas of Rangers supporters and decided to remain at Ibrox for another season.
Bougherra had been linked with possible moves to clubs such as Arsenal and Liverpool after being part of an Algerian World Cup squad that conceded only two goals in three games in South Africa.
However, the central defender says he remains committed to the reigning SPL champions at present.
"I have decided to stay at Glasgow Rangers," Bougherra said. "I would prefer to stay here to help give some stability to the club.
"Also, I must do the right thing by the supporters. They insisted I stay. I also have a lot of respect for the manager, Walter Smith."
