Ajax striker Miralem Sulejmani is poised to join West Ham on a season-long deal and says he is excited by the prospect of playing in the "strongest league in Europe".

The Hammers are reported to have reached an agreement with Ajax, who have signed Mounir El Hamdaoui from AZ Alkmaar and are close to recruiting Mido, and Sulejmani will move to Upton Park if and when he secures a work permit.

The Serbia striker is Ajax's record signing having joined the club from Heerenveen in a deal worth in the region of £13 million in the summer of 2008. However, he has scored only 10 goals in 43 league games for the club.

"I am happy that I will play in the strongest league in Europe," Sulejmani told Sportski Zurnal. "I think that I am up to the challenge and I am convinced that I will get the chance and the opportunities, as Avram Grant was very positive about my qualities.

"As Jol took over, my status changed and this is the biggest reason that I would like to change my environment."

Mido has already confirmed that after lengthy neogiations, he will be leaving Middlesbrough and returning to his former club.

"I have officially ended my spell with Middlesbrough and I am travelling to Amsterdam tonight to join Ajax," Mido said on Monday. "I reached an agreement over a permanent transfer to Ajax, rather than a loan move."
