Marshall and Dorrans pull out of Scotland squad

Scotland goalkeeper David Marshall (elbow) and midfielder Graham Dorrans (groin) have withdrawn from the squad to face Sweden this week.

Everton goalkeeper Iain Turner has been called up and is on his way up to Glasgow to meet up with the squad ahead of the flight to Stockholm. Midfielder Scott Brown is still struggling with a foot injury but the Celtic skipper is keen to travel with the squad.

Craig Levein will travel from Glasgow airport with a weakened squad for the last friendly game before the Euro 2012 qualifiers begin in September with a double header against Lithuania and Liechtenstein.

Lee McCulloch (viral infection), Alan Hutton (groin) and Andy Webster (hamstring) were ruled out over the weekend. The Scotland boss had already lost number one keeper Craig Gordon to a broken arm and defender Gary Caldwell, who had two hip operations during the summer.

Dundee United duo Scott Robertson and Garry Kenneth have been drafted in to the squad.

Meanwhile, Andy Webster is hoping his track record under Levein will keep him in the Scotland manager's plans for next month's Euro 2012 qualifiers. The Rangers defender had to withdraw from the squad for Wednesday's friendly against Sweden in Stockholm due to a hamstring injury sustained last week.

Webster, who worked under Levein at Hearts and during his loan spell at Dundee United last season, faces a race against time to be ready for Saturday's Premier League opener against Kilmarnock at Ibrox. He is he also determined to get back to full fitness for Scotland's forthcoming European Championship qualifying double-header against Lithuania and Liechtenstein in September.

"Playing international football is one of the highlights of anyone's career and getting the opportunity to be involved is great,'' Webster told Rangers' official website. "But injuries happen and it's just one of these things that I'm having to miss the Sweden game. I just have to get on with things.

"Hopefully I can get back into the group for the qualifiers. Going out on loan last season was really good for me as it has given me a chance at club and international level again. I've worked with the manager before and he knows what I'm all about so, from that point of view, it has been great.

"Hopefully that stands me in good stead when the competitive games start in September against Lithuania and Liechtenstein. I just need to worry about getting a game at Rangers and doing well there. After that, these things take care of themselves.''
