Makelele expecting more from PSG this season

Claude Makelele claims that he is expecting more from Paris St Germain this season after the club finished 13th in the league and won the Coupe de France.

Makelele saw his side suffer a poor start to the season that derailed their assault on the Ligue 1 title and the Frenchman now hopes his side hit the ground running.

"Last year was a year of transition, with a new coach, staff and tactics," he told the club's website. "We maybe did not adapt well and that might explain why we did not have a good season - even though we won the Coupe de France. This year, I hope we can cut out those mistakes."

Defender Mamadou Sakho has been called up into France coach Laurent Blanc's makeshift squad to face Norway next week, and Makelele claims it can only be a good thing.

"It's important that he is integrated into the senior France team," he added. "It's an opportunity for him to show that he can be a part of the squad in the future. I am very happy for him."
