United crush MLS All-Stars, Bolton battered, Hammers win

Javier Hernandez scored on debut as Manchester United swept aside the MLS All-Stars 5-2 in front of 70,728 at the Reliant Stadium.

Sir Alex Ferguson's youthful team impressed with some free-flowing football as Federico Macheda scored a first-half brace, his first goal coming after just 24 seconds, and substitutes Darron Gibson and Tom Cleverley also found the target.

Hernandez came on midway through the second half to a rousing reception given nearly one million Mexicans live in the Houston area and a foul on him led to Gibson's goal, a stunning free kick, before the striker lobbed substitute goalkeeper Nick Rimando in the 84th minute.

A Brian Ching header shortly after half time and a late consolation from Dwayne Rosario were not enough to bring the All-Stars back into the match.

West Ham completed their fourth successive pre-season win as Julien Faubert and Carlton Cole netted in a 2-0 victory away to npower League One side MK Dons.

Matthew Upson and Jonathan Spector both made their first appearances since their return from the World Cup, while England goalkeeper Robert Green also played 45 minutes.

Cole was the key man for the Hammers, providing Faubert with the assist for the opening goal and then sealing the win with a fine solo effort in the 85th minute.

Elsewhere, Tom Eaves' hat-trick handed Oldham a 3-0 win over Bolton, ending the Trotters' unbeaten pre-season run and giving the Premier League club's boss Owen Coyle plenty to think about.

Coyle sent out a virtual full-strength side for the pre-season friendly clash at Boundary Park but saw his side undone by the first-half substitute.

Eaves, who replaced Warren Feeney when the Northern Ireland international picked up an injury, gave the npower League 1 side a 24th-minute lead, doubled the lead four minutes before the break and completed his hat-trick in the 55th minute.
