Ajax have called a halt to talks with Bayern Munich regarding the transfer of Netherlands international Gregory van der Wiel.
Bayern coach Louis van Gaal was looking to enlarge his Dutch contingent with the addition of Arjen Robben and Mark van Bommel's international team-mate.
However, a deadline for the successful conclusion of negotiations passed at noon local time on Wednesday and the Amsterdam club issued a statement that read: "Ajax and Bayern Munich are no longer in talks about Gregory van der Wiel."
The right back made his Eredivisie debut in March 2007 and was a key player for his country at the World Cup, starting in their 1-0 defeat to Spain in the final in Johannesburg.
His fine performances in South Africa have seen him linked with the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus Inter, Arsenal and Manchester City in recent weeks.
