Cho Kwang-Rae confirmed as new South Korea boss

South Korea have confirmed the appointment of Cho Kwang-Rae as the new manager of the national side.

Cho replaces Huh Jung-Moo, who stepped down from his position after South Korea were eliminated by Uruguay in the second round of the World Cup in South Africa.

Cho won the K-League with Anyang Cheetahs in 2000 and took Gyeongnam FC to the final of the Korean FA Cup in 2008.

"The technical committee of the Korean Football Association have all agreed to appoint Cho Kwang-Rae as the coach," committee chairman Lee Hoi-Taek said.

"With his background as a player and coach, Cho has a wealth of experience. He has also shown his coaching capabilities with the likes of Suwon, Busan and Gyeongnam and has played a big part in the development of young players like Lee Hung-Yong."

Cho has been handed a contract until the end of the 2014 World Cup and will take charge of the country for the first time on August 11 when they face Nigeria.
