Nice's in-demand striker Loic Remy claims he has the choice of joining Liverpool or Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
Remy had been targeted by West Ham but the Hammers struggled to agree on a payment structure with Nice, giving their Premier League rivals the chance to make a move.
It is believed that Nice value Remy, 23, at €16 million and both Liverpool and Tottenham are showing interest according to the player, who appears to favour a move to Merseyside.
"It will be a choice between two clubs with big futures," Remy told AFP. "I have a slight preference for a prestige club like Liverpool, even though Tottenham are also very, very interesting.
"Nothing has been decided. Wherever I play, I'll have to fight and work hard to win my place."
However, Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson was decidedly cool on the issue when quizzed by reporters on Friday.
"He's a player who was mentioned to me by the scouting department and a player the club were following before I came," Hodgson said.
"He's a player I know very little about. If I am going to be interested in a player I am going to have to watch him playing, study him and make judgments which I have not been able to."
