Boyd agrees Middlesbrough move

Scotland striker Kris Boyd has confirmed he will join Championship club Middlesbrough on a Bosman move after leaving Rangers as a free agent.

Boyd was linked with a number of Premier League clubs, as well as a possible move to Turkey, but has opted to link up with former Celtic manager Gordon Strachan at The Riverside.

Boyd joins fellow SPL exiles such as Scott McDonald and Barry Robson in the Boro side and cannot wait to begin working under Strachan as he attempts to emulate his prolific form in the SPL.

"I'm delighted to finally have my future sorted out," Boyd told the Sunday Mail. "I've had a few offers to consider and it's been a case of talking to my family about the positives and negatives of each one.

"Middlesbrough have always been very appealing. Strachan has big plans and has made me feel wanted. I first met him in January and he impressed me at that meeting.

"Everything has just about been agreed and I will go through my medical today or tomorrow. I don't envisage any problems and I'm looking forward to starting my Boro career."

Boyd scored 101 goals in 143 league appearances for Rangers and his total of 164 goals in the SPL, including his time at Kilmarnock, is a record since the formation of the rebranded top division.
