Wigan boss Martinez hit with fine
Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has been fined £2,250 by the Football Association and warned about his future conduct following comments made about referee Stuart Atwell.
Martinez made the comments in the wake of Wigan's 3-0 Premier League defeat to Manchester City at Eastlands on March 29.
The Wigan boss had been angered by Atwell's decision to send of Gary Caldwell for a challenge on Carlos Tevez with the game at 0-0.
"We are all human beings and we all make mistakes, but to give a decision after something you don't see, that is lying. You are making it up," said Martinez in a post-match interview.
"He (the referee) said he saw Gary Caldwell with both feet off the ground. That's why he gave the red card. But Gary Caldwell only went with one foot. That is a real injustice."
The charge was proven at a personal hearing with the Independent Regulatory Commission on Wednesday.
