Hamburg appoint Armin Veh as new coach
Hamburg have appointed Armin Veh as their new coach with Bastian Reinhardt taking the vacant director of sport position.
Veh, who led Stuttgart to the Bundesliga title in 2007 but was dismissed as manager of Wolfsburg after only half of last season, has signed a two-year contract and replaces Ricardo Moniz, who had taken over for the last few games of last season after Bruno Labbadia was sacked. He will be officially unveiled at a press conference on Tuesday.
Reinhardt will be his right-hand man after being appointed as the club's new director of sport, a position which had been vacant throughout last season after Dietmar Beiersdorfer left last summer.
He too has signed a two-year deal and starts work, like Veh, with immediate effect. Hamburg ended the season just outside the top six and failed to qualify for Europe next season and the aim will be to rebuild a squad capable of challenging for at least a top-five finish next year.
