Medel, currently on loan at Boca Juniors from Universidad Catolica, has impressed in Argentina following his temporary switch and Sevilla are willing to pay around £4 million to sign the 22-year-old.
Boca can renew Medel's loan for another 12 months for £300,000, but his parent club, Catolica, are more likely to accept the permanent transfer deal on offer from Sevilla.
Medel, a holding midfielder, arrived at Boca mid-way through last year and made his mark with two goals in the Argentine superclasico against arch-rivals River Plate.
According to the player's agent, an unnamed English club are also interested in signing Medel, who is expected to start for Chile at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
