Bochum part company with Herrlich

Bochum have sacked coach Heiko Herrlich following a run of ten games without a win.

That run, which included seven defeats, has dropped the club to third from bottom of the Bundesliga table, just one point ahead of Hannover.

A statement posted today on Bochum's official website read: "Because of their sporting slide ochum have split with coach Heiko Herrlich with immediate effect."

Herrlich was only in the job for six months, having taken over from Marcel Koller in October.

Assistant coach Dariusz Wosz will take charge of the team for the final two games of the season.

Bochum, who have not won a match since beating Hoffenheim 2-1 on February 13, travel to title-chasing Bayern Munich on Saturday, while Hannover are at home to a Borussia Monchengladbach team whose safety is guaranteed.

The two strugglers then meet in Bochum on the final day of the season in a match which is likely to decide who occupies the second relegation berth and who goes into the relegation play-off.

Bottom side Hertha Berlin are four points adrift of Hannover.
