Zola could quit West Ham, claims Sullivan

West Ham United co-owner David Sullivan claims manager Gianfranco Zola "might resign" at the end of the Premier League season.

• Sullivan refuses to join Gold in backing Zola
• Hammers' Dorrans bid rejected, stars up for sale
• Hammers planning move for Kevin-Prince Boateng

Zola's future has been the subject of speculation ever since Sullivan and David Gold took control of the Hammers in January. The Italian nearly quit last month following a run of six consecutive defeats but decided to fight on after a quick trip home to Sardinia to consider his position.

However, Sullivan now thinks Zola might be ready to walk away from Upton Park. "He did indicate he might resign at the end of the season," Sullivan told the Daily Telegraph. "But he might well have changed his mind."

"In interviews he has not committed his future to the club beyond the end of this season."

Sullivan and Gold have never said that they will sack Zola at the end of the current campaign but have not come to a conclusive decision with regards to the manager's future either.

West Ham, who had been battling against relegation for most of the season, secured their survival in the Premier League with a 3-2 win over Wigan Athletic on Saturday and the club's focus has already shifted to next season.

The club's co-chairmen put the entire first-team squad, bar Scott Parker, up for sale earlier this week and managers such as Steve McClaren, Mark Hughes and Slaven Bilic have already been linked with Zola's job.
