Hamburg confirm Labbadia dismissal
Hamburg have dismissed coach Bruno Labbadia just days before the club's Europa League semi-final second leg against Fulham.
Hamburg coach troubles
Hamburg were beaten 5-1 by Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga this weekend, which leaves the team in seventh place in the table.
The result follows the 0-0 draw at home to Fulham in the first leg and, as the Europa League represents the club's last chance to salvage something from their season, the board has decided to take swift action.
Ricardo Moniz, part of the coaching staff under Labbadia, will take charge for Thursday's return leg and for the remainder of the season.
"We have analysed the situation last night and this morning and decided together that we did not want to continue in this situation," Hamburg's chairman Bernd Hoffmann said. "Ricardo Moniz will take charge of the team until the end of the season.
"He is incredibly enthusiastic, knows the team and English football well and lives for football."
Labbadia joined HSV from Bayer Leverkusen last summer and, although he made a positive start, results were more disappointing in 2010.
