Luis Suarez and Marko Pantelic both scored hat-tricks as Ajax ran riot 7-0 against lowly VVV-Venlo to extend their astonishing home record this season and keep up their pursuit of FC Twente at the Eredivisie summit.

The Amsterdam giants still trail Steve McClaren's men by four points with just three games remaining but have not given up hope and buried VVV who are now just three points ahead of the relegation zone after ADO Den Haag's 2-0 win at FC Utrecht.

The hosts - who have 15 wins and a draw from 16 home games during the campaign, scoring 60 goals along the way and conceding just four - were 5-0 up by the interval and added insult to injury after the break as Pantelic completed his treble.

PSV Eindhoven's title challenge all but ended as they were held to a goalless draw in a dire game against Feyenoord.

PSV started the day eight points off the summit and at the end of a disappointing game, that gap was reduced only to seven with three matches remaining.

If Fred Rutten was unsure why his side had not mounted a stronger challenge this term, this game will have left him in little doubt. They struggled to create any real chances, particularly in a dour first half, against a Feyenoord side who had won just one of their previous four matches.

ADO Den Haag boosted their hopes of Eredivisie survival with a shock 2-0 win at seventh-placed FC Utrecht.

Danny Buijs set the visitors on their way after 17 minutes and Wesley Verhoek doubled their advantage two minutes before the break to stun the majority of the crowd inside the Nieuwe Galgenwaard. The victory moved ADO out of the relegation play-off zone and up to 15th at the expense of Sparta Rotterdam.

In the day's other game, FC Groningen ran out 4-0 winners over Willem II Tilburg. Thomas Enevoldsen, Nicklas Pedersen and Tim Matavz all scored in the first half, with Leandro Bacuna adding a fourth after 56 minutes. Willem remain second bottom, four points adrift of ADO.
