Birmingham defender Franck Queudrue has joined Colchester United on an emergency loan deal until the end of the season.
Queudrue has teamed up with the League One side, who currently lie in sixth position.
The move will give Queudrue the chance to play first team football with the U's and, should they be involved in the end of campaign promotion play-offs, he will be eligible for selection.
Queudrue, 31, has only featured seven times for City this season due to the excellent form of Liam Ridgewell at left-back.
Queudrue joined Birmingham from Fulham in August 2007 and has made over 50 appearances for the club and last season was voted their player of the year.
