Samaras: Hoops won't give up on title charge

Georgios Samaras insists Celtic will not give up on the Scottish Premier League title until it is mathematically impossible to topple Rangers.

The Hoops have fallen 13 points behind their arch-rivals in the table in recent weeks to all but extinguish their hopes of wresting the SPL crown from Ibrox.

But Samaras is refusing to surrender and believes an extraordinary comeback is not out of the question. "We'll keep going until the end of the season and you never know what will happen,'' he told Celtic View. "We'll just keep our eyes on the points.''

With Rangers playing in the CIS Cup final on Sunday, Celtic can cut the gap at the top of the SPL to ten points if they beat St Johnstone on Saturday.

Samaras, who scored the last time the sides met in January, believes victory this weekend could spark the kind of run that could put Rangers under pressure during the run-in.

"It's never an easy game against St Johnstone,'' said the Greece international. "We know it will be hard but we must go and win the game and get an unbeaten run going.

"You must be 100% professional to go and win the game and not give any chance to the other team to believe they can get something. I believe we can do that and take the three points.''
