Olle-Nicolle sacked as manager of Nice

Nice have confirmed the sacking of coach Didier Olle-Nicolle after less than a year in charge of the Ligue 1 club.

The 48-year-old had been under immense pressure and on Monday the club announced the directors had entered "a phase of discussions'' with Olle-Nicolle.

Club staff Eric Roy, Rene Marsiglia and Frederic Gioria took training and on Tuesday it was confirmed they will stay in charge of the team until the end of the season, along with fitness coach Roger Propos.

The future looked bright for Nice when Olle-Nicolle took over in July but injuries to key players have hampered them.

The last-minute 3-2 loss to Nancy at the weekend made it only one win from 15 matches and proved the last straw for the club's directors.

Nice find themselves in 17th, only five points above the relegation zone, and defeat against Le Mans this weekend would close that gap still further.

The league's website reported Olle-Nicolle, who has previously been in charge at Clermont, Nimes and Valenciennes, was offered another position at the club but declined.
