Homesick Eto'o targets trophy haul

Inter Milan striker Samuel Eto'o says he misses life at Barcelona but is focused on winning trophies with his new club.

Eto'o left Camp Nou and headed for San Siro as part of a €69 million transfer that saw Zlatan Ibrahimovic head in the opposite direction in the summer.

The 28-year-old Cameroon striker has scored nine goals in 18 Serie A games this season but has fallen slightly out of favour recently and admitted it is difficult to adapt to a new country.

"It was hard after 13 years in Spain and I miss the life I had at Barcelona," Eto'o told World Soccer. "But despite these difficulties I am trying to adapt to the reality in Milan.

"To keep winning you have to regard whatever you have already won as history. You must always start from scratch, find the strength to win again. My objective is to win the same trophies I won at Barcelona with Inter."

Eto'o won three league titles in Spain and is on course to win his first Scudetto in Italy, although he could struggle to match the two Champions League titles he won with his previous club.

Inter face Chelsea, one of the pre-tournament favourites, in the last 16 of Europe's premier competition.
