Chamakh: I haven't signed for Arsenal yet
Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh insists he has not agreed a deal to move to Arsenal but admits he is unlikely to remain at the Stade Chaban Delmas once his contract expires at the end of the season.
Chamakh has long been linked with a move away from the Ligue 1 giants and has always professed his desire to move to the Premier League, and was quoted on Monday as saying Arsenal would be his club of choice in England.
Reports this week had suggested the Morocco international had already signed a pre-contract agreement with the Gunners, who were one of the clubs which had a bid for the forward turned down last summer.
Arsene Wenger maintained yesterday that no deal has yet been done and Chamakh, who has scored nine goals this season, has now reiterated that stance.
"I haven't yet signed at Arsenal,'' Chamakh told French reporters. "But as the days pass I feel less and less a Bordeaux player. I've said though that you will be the first ones to know when I sign.
"It's true that there are contacts with several english clubs, of which Arsenal is one. But I deny that there is any signature. I haven't signed anything yet. As soon as I have something concrete to announce, you will be the first to know.
"Here, the source comes from England. It's just hearsay. We're in talks. There's contacts, that's true, but no signature.''
Chamakh was Bordeaux's leading goalscorer last season as he fired them to the league title. The 26-year-old has scored nine goals so far this season.
