Zidan hails Algeria win as the best game of his life
Borussia Dortmund striker Mohamed Zidan has described Egypt's semi-final victory over Algeria at the African Nations Cup on Thursday as the best game of his life.
Zidan was one of the goalscorers in the 4-0 win - the others were Hosni Abd Rabou, Mohamed Abdelshafy and Mohamed Gedo - over their fierce north African rivals, who had three players sent off.
It put the defending champions on course for a third successive title and also helped extract some revenge for Hassan Shehata's team after they missed out on a World Cup spot when they were beaten by their old foes in a November play-off.
Zidan said: "It was a make-or-break tie - that's why all the players did their best to claim such an impressive win.
"We were a million times better than Algeria, and this was the best way to restore our pride. For me, this is the best game of my life."
The Egyptians will now face Ghana in Sunday's final after the Black Stars beat Nigeria 1-0 in the other semi-final.
