Lippi backs under-fire Juve boss Ferrara

Italy coach Marcello Lippi has offered words of encouragement to embattled Juventus coach Ciro Ferrara.

Ferrara is struggling in his first full season at the helm of the Bianconeri with last weekend's 2-1 defeat to Roma the club's fifth setback in six Serie A games.

Juve are four points behind Napoli, who occupy the last Champions League qualifying place in Serie A.

"I advise Ferrara to have a lot of determination and to accept that in the life of a coach these moments do happen,'' said Lippi, who coached Ferrara for nine seasons at Juve.

"He had a great start with Juventus and now instead there are disappointments but I hope that happy moments will come his way.''

Juve take on Inter in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals on Thursday.
