Juliano Belletti surprised by Flamengo rumours

Juliano Belletti says he is surprised by reports he could be set to leave Chelsea to return to his homeland with Flamengo this month. Belletti, who can play in defence or a holding midfield role, has struggled for first-team football since moving to Stamford Bridge from Barcelona in 2007, but he has become more important to the side in recent matches as John Mikel Obi and Michael Essien are both unavailable.

And, while there are rumours he could head back to Brazil, Belletti believes he is still an important part of the squad at Chelsea.

"Flamengo? This is a surprise to me, especially as Chelsea have already said that they're not going to release me in January," he told Globo Esporte.
