Chiellini backs under-fire Juventus boss Ferrara
Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini has claimed Juventus' players are behind under-fire manager Ciro Ferrara "no matter what".
Ferrara is coming under increasing pressure to resign or be sacked following the club's poor run in Serie A.
Last weekend's 1-0 defeat to Chievo marked Juve's fourth loss in five league games, but Chiellini says the players are still in full support of Ferrara and his methods.
"I am saddened for Ferrara," Chiellini told Italian newspaper La Stampa. "I feel the right thing to do is to continue with Ferrara in charge although I am not the one that makes the decision. One thing certain is that the team will stick by the manager no matter what."
Rather than pin any blame on the coach, Chiellini said the players are the ones to blame for the team's slump in form, which has left them 13 points behind Serie A leaders Inter Milan after 20 games played.
"The fact is that we could have and should have done better," Chiellini said. "It is down to us, the players, to turn things around.
"We are all working hard together but evidently, this is not enough. We are the ones that have to change the trend and we have to do it with the group we have."
