Seol's transfer to Pohang Steelers is confirmed

South Korea international Seol Ki-Hyeon has signed for Asian Champions League winners Pohang Steelers after leaving Fulham.

The 31-year-old left the Premier League club by mutual consent and will play in the K-league for the first time in his career.

Seol, a veteran of the 2002 and 2006 World Cups, found chances limited at Fulham this season and returns to Pohang in a bid to claim a place in the Korean squad heading to South Africa.

The versatile attacker boasts extensive European experience, having played in Belgium with Royal Antwerp and Anderlecht and also featured for Wolverhampton Wanderers and Reading in England.

"I am returning home after 10 years,'' Seol told Pohang's official website. "I hope to show the fans at Pohang what I have learned in Europe and I hope that I can help the K-League develop too.''

Seol had been linked with Suwon Bluewings but opted for the Steelers instead.

"After watching Pohang play in the Asian Champions League and the Club World Cup, I felt that they are an attractive team,'' he said.

The signing is the latest piece of business in what has proved a busy few weeks for the three-time continental champions.

Coach Sergio Farias has joined Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia, strikers Stevica Ristic and Denilson are now with Uzbekistan side Bunyodkor FC and Choi Hyo-Jin moved to FC Seoul.

But new boss Waldemar Lemos de Oliveira has brought in Brazilian striker Mota and South Korea midfielder Ahn Tae-Eun.
