Arsenal sign Bolivian teenager Samuel Galindo

Arsenal have complemented the signing of experienced defender Sol Campbell by announcing a deal for Bolivian teenager Samuel Galindo.

• Campbell returns to Arsenal

The arrival of Campbell was an unexpected development at a club that is renowned for focusing on producing young talents but the capture of Galindo is much more in the Wenger mould.

The 17-year-old has joined Arsenal from Real America after the Gunners beat Everton to the signing of the midfielder. Wenger will follow the methods employed with both Mexican forward Carlos Vela and Brazilian defender Pedro Botelho by sending Galindo on loan to a Spanish club.

"I'm looking to send him out on loan," Wenger said at his weekly press conference. "We have a few clubs in mind.

"Galindo is a player who has good technique. He's intelligent, 6ft 2ins tall, left-footed with good stamina. He is a central midfielder who can give good balls. He has good vision too which we like here."

"It's true that he was at Everton but he was offered to come to me on trial," Wenger added. "I said yes, I liked what I saw and I signed him."
