Former Pohang defender Choi Hyo-jin joins FC Seoul
FC Seoul have beaten Kawasaki Frontale to the signature of former Pohang Steelers right-back Choi Hyo-jin.
Choi starred in Pohang's successful 2009 Asian Champions League campaign but his contract with the K-League club expired and a number of clubs from South Korea and Japan expressed their interest in the pacy right-sided player.
It was widely expected that Kawasaki would land the 2010 World Cup hopeful but the 26 year-old decided to pen a four-year contract with FC Seoul.
''It is great to join FC Seoul. I have met Seoul's players many times in the past and know them well so I don't think it is going to be a big problem to adapt and fit in,'' Choi told the club's official website.
''Through my committed performances on the pitch, I hope to earn the trust and love of the FC Seoul fans. I am looking forward to a new challenge and can't wait for the start of the new season.''
After missing out on the K-League title last season and falling at the quarter-final stage of the Asian Champions League, Seoul's new boss Nelo Vingada is rebuilding ahead of the new season.
The capital club have already signed international goalkeeper Kim Yong-dae from Seongnam Ilhwa for a fee close to one million dollars.
