Torres: We won't waste ''big chance''
Spanish striker Fernando Torres has maintained that his side will not waste their "big chance" in South Africa this summer.
After losing against the USA in the Confederations Cup semi-final in their last major game, Torres admits that his side are focused on overcoming their mistakes and living up to their billing as one of the favourites for the tournament.
"We've realised that anybody can have a bad day and that a bad day puts you out of the World Cup, he told FIFA.com. ''That was made very clear to us at the Confederations! But we now know what we have to do so it doesn't happen again.''
World Cup legend Pele has admitted the current Spain team reminded him of the classic 1970 Brazil team, but Torres is sure that such a statement will make his side marked men.
"It's an added motivation for us. However, that's also a warning shot for our opponents and will make them more defensive against us. Let's hope that once the World Cup is over we can say that Pele was right, '' he added. ''South Africa 2010 is our big chance and we don't want to waste it.''
