Fyfe cleared of serious injury

Adelaide United defender Iain Fyfe has been cleared of any serious damage to his left leg following Saturday's A-League draw against Gold Coast United.

Fyfe suffered bruising and swelling to his left knee and ankle following a challenge from United striker Shane Smeltz in the 41st minute of the 1-1 draw at Skilled Stadium.

But MRI scans have cleared Fyfe of any serious damage and the former Sydney FC player could be fit to take on the Central Coast Mariners at Hindmarsh Stadium on Friday.

Reds medical staff will monitor Fyfe over the coming days before a decision is made on his eligibility for the Mariners match.
