A-League ladder-leaders Sydney FC have signed former Socceroos defender Hayden Foxe on a six-week deal to cover injury worries.
Sydney lost another defender on Wednesday with Sebastian Ryall ruled out for six weeks after straining medial ligaments in his left knee at training.
But Foxe looms as a handy replacement and is set to suit up for the Sky Blues' clash with Perth Glory - his former team - in Perth on Sunday.
Foxe represented Australia at the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games and played for Aston Villa, Portsmouth and Leeds United in the English Premier League.
"Hayden is an absolute professional," Sydney assistant coach Tony Popovic said.
"He has represented the Socceroos and played in the English Premier League so he brings a wealth of knowledge to the group.
"We have had a few injuries in the last few weeks, especially in our defensive ranks, so Hayden provides us with another body and a lot of experience."
Foxe previously spent two seasons with Perth Glory between 2007 and 2009.
