Wigan Athletic have taken Sporting Lisbon's Serbia goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic on loan to provide cover until the end of the season, the Portuguese club revealed on their official website.
The 26-year-old, who helped Serbia reach next year's World Cup finals, will offer back up for Chris Kirkland. Wigan, who are 15th in the Premier League, have lost second-choice Richard Kingson to next month's African Nations Cup with Ghana.
Stojkovic, who has 29 caps for Serbia, joined Sporting from French club Nantes in July 2007 but failed to make the first team and dropped to third-choice under coach Paulo Bento.
He joined Spanish side Getafe on loan in the second half of last season but failed to secure a permanent move. Although Bento was replaced by Carlos Carvalhal in November, the change did not result in more appearances for the Serb.
The deal will be subject to a work permit, visa and international clearance when the transfer window opens.
