Fulham have been rocked by the news that they could lose John Pantsil to injury for the rest of the season.
The defender was forced off in the second half of the Cottagers' 2-1 defeat at Chelsea on Monday. They led at the time and the loss of the Ghana international was a crucial moment as Chelsea forced their way back into the match.
Fulham boss Roy Hodgson now fears the worst after the player twisted his knee and he might not play again in 2009-10. It would also mean he misses the African Cup of Nations.
"We'll scan John here because at the moment his knee is sufficiently bad that we wouldn't want to put him on a flight,'' said Hodgson. "When he's fit enough to travel for Ghana to look at him he's welcome to go. We're not trying to keep him out of the African Nations Cup.
"I'm more concerned that he will miss the rest of the season because I always fear the worst when players twist their knees.''
