Atletico Madrid have confirmed they have sold French striker Florent Sinama-Pongolle to Sporting Lisbon.
The 25-year-old passed a medical test today with the Portuguese giants and penned a deal which will see him remain at the Estadio Jose Alvalade until 2013.
"Atletico Madrid and Sporting Lisbon have reached an agreement for the transfer of Florent Sinama Pongolle to the Portuguese club,'' read a statement on Atletico's website.
"Atletico Madrid express their thanks to Sinama Pongolle for the professionalism shown while defending the red and white shirt and wish him well in this new personal and professional adventure.''
Sinama-Pongolle spent one-and-a-half seasons with the La Liga side, but he has been unable to depose the club's preferred strike partnership of Diego Forlan and Sergio Aguero.
Reports suggest Sporting have paid around €7 million for the former Liverpool striker.
