Almeria appoint Lillo to replace sacked Sanchez
Almeria have appointed Juan Manuel Lillo as coach to replace the sacked Hugo Sanchez with a brief to keep the struggling Andalusian club in Spain's top flight.
Lillo, 44, had previous experience in charge at clubs including Salamanca, Real Zaragoza and Real Sociedad and his new contract ran until the end of the season, Almeria said on their website.
He would take charge of his first training session on Dec. 28 after being presented to the media and make his debut when Almeria hosted promoted Xerez on Jan. 3, they added.
Mexican Sanchez was dismissed on Sunday after Almeria's 2-0 defeat at Espanyol left them 17th in the 20-team league, one point above the relegation places.
