Ligue 1: Bordeaux extend lead, Lyon win

Girondins Bordeaux went six points clear in Ligue 1 after a 1-0 win at Montpellier on Wednesday, despite France playmaker Yoann Gourcuff missing a penalty.

In freezing weather, Bordeaux missed a golden opportunity to unlock a tight game when Gourcuff missed a penalty for handball after a free kick on the half hour. The champions clinched their fourth league win in a row, the 12th of the season, when Brazilian midfielder Jussie recovered the ball after a bad clearance, sidestepped defender Mapou Yangambiwan and netted a powerful right-footer.

Second-half strikes from Miralem Pjanic and Cesar Delgado earned Lyon victory over Boulogne to end a run of five Ligue 1 matches without a win.

Pjanic struck after 72 minutes and Delgado netted in second-half stoppage time as Lyon claimed an eighth win of the season. It was Boulogne's 11th defeat as they continue their battle with relegation.

Chu Young-Park was the match-winner for Monaco as they held on for almost 70 minutes to beat Ligue 1 rivals Rennes at the Stade Louis II.

Park powered home from close range after 21 minutes to break the deadlock and, although both sides had a number of chances, there was no further scoring. As well as three vital points, the win also provided a timely morale-boosting clean sheet following their 4-0 humbling at the same stadium against Lille at the weekend.

Souleymane Diawara netted the winner deep into stoppage-time as Marseille fought back from a goal down to secure a precious victory on the road at Lorient. Marama Vahirua fired the hosts into the lead from the penalty spot eight minutes into the second half but OM pulled level midway through the half when debutant Jordan Ayew lashed home.

Lorient were good value for at least a point having largely contained their in-form opponents, but home hopes were shattered at the death when Lucho Gonzalez's free-kick was nodded home by Diawara.

Nancy pulled three points clear of Nice in the table as two goals in four second-half minutes gave the hosts a deserved victory in a game they dominated. Nice, who dropped to 16th as a result of the defeat, failed to create a single clear-cut chance, with Julien Feret and Chris Malonga netting for Nancy shortly after half-time.

Le Mans jumped out of the bottom three in Ligue 1 as Thorstein Helstad's early strike dealt another blow to Grenoble's hopes of survival. Le Mans began well and went ahead when Helstad fired home in the seventh minute.

Mathieu Dossevi released the Norwegian striker on the right, and he beat Sandy Paillot before hitting his right-footed shot into the bottom right corner.

In the late match, Paris St Germain were held 1-1 at home by Lens. Veteran midfielder Claude Makelele scored what for him was a rare goal to put PSG in front after 69 minutes, but the lead did not last and Toifilou Maoulida levelled up four minutes later.
