Real Sociedad goalkeeper Asier Riesgo is hoping a deal can now be struck for him to join Tottenham after he seemingly impressed during his trial with the Premier League club.
Spurs manager Harry Redknapp took a look at the 26-year-old Riesgo as he seeks cover for first-choice custodian Heurelho Gomes after back-up Carlo Cudicini suffered injuries to his pelvis and wrists in a motorcycle accident that could rule him out of the rest of the campaign or beyond.
Riesgo, a former Spain Under-21 international who spent last season on loan at Recreativo Huelva before returning to Segunda Division club Sociedad, is hoping he did enough during his time in England to earn himself a deal at White Hart Lane.
"It's a nice opportunity. I would go to a great club and a change of air would be good for me. I have to look out for my interests,'' Riesgo told newspaper Diario Vasco on his return to Sociedad on Tuesday.
"The coach told me that he was happy with the time that I spent there. Now the clubs have to find a financial agreement. I think that it's a positive operation for all.''
