Joe Cole has no interest in Bosman transfer

Joe Cole insists he has no interest in joining any other club despite approaching the final six months of his Chelsea contract.

Cole has recently returned to action after a long lay-off with a knee injury and, while he has been an important part of the Chelsea side in the last few years, he has yet to sign an extension to his current deal, which will expire in the summer.

Nonetheless, he insists he would not welcome a move to another side on a Bosman transfer and says he hopes to commit his future to the club soon.

"I want nothing more to stay at Chelsea," he told the Daily Mail. "I love it here. It's not a problem. I don't want drama in the papers, either.

"You won't hear my agent running around saying I'm going to this club or that club. I want to be at Chelsea and they know that."

Cole has not played regular football since suffering the injury in an FA Cup against Southend in January but, while he is some way off establishing himself as first-choice under Carlo Ancelotti, he feels he can rise to the challenge.

"I've still got a lot to prove," he said. "If I want to play the No 10 position for Chelsea, I've got to get back better than I was before.

"I feel like Chelsea are looking at me and saying, 'We wany you to prove you can be that player for us'. I've got to prove myself again but that's all right - I've had to prove myself all my life."

His lack of first-team action could prove a problem for England boss Fabio Capello ahead of the World Cup. Cole was left out of the heavily-depleted England squad that travelled to Qatar for a friendly last month, but Cole remains determined to battle his way into contention.

"I'll put my heart and soul into getting into that team," he said. "You're always disappointed [to be left out], but it just puts more fire in my belly. Don't bet against me when I'm in that frame of mind.

"All I need to do is to get back to my best football and I think I'll merit a place in the starting XI. I have faith in myself and my desire to get to the level I was at before. That's the way I'm looking at it. I'm going to try everything in my power.

"Win the Premier League, win the Champions League, score in the final, be a major part of that and I'm sure I'll have a good chance of going."
