Lowly Catania run out of patience with Atzori
Serie A strugglers Catania sacked coach Gianluca Atzori on Tuesday and named former Bologna boss Sinisa Mihajlovic as his replacement.
"Catania announce that coach Gianluca Atzori has been relieved of his duties. Sinisa Mihajlovic is the new Catania coach," a statement said on their website.
Former assistant coach Atzori, who took over from Walter Zenga in the close season, was under pressure from the off after the club failed to strengthen in the transfer market and Sunday's 3-2 loss at Siena left the Sicilian side joint bottom.
Serbian Mihajlovic, who made his name as a tough-tackling defender at clubs such as Lazio, took his first steps into management last season with Serie A Bologna but was sacked in April after only six months in charge.
