Rooney slept through World Cup draw
England striker Wayne Rooney has revealed he slept through Friday evening's World Cup draw.
The 24-year-old fell asleep in front of the television in his hotel room and missed the draw, which saw Fabio Capello's side drawn against Algeria, Slovenia and the United States.
While England team-mate David Beckham was in Cape Town as part of the England 2018 bid, the Manchester United striker, who became a father for the first time last month, missed the whole event.
Rooney, who was in the capital preparing for United's Premier League match at West Ham, revealed: "I was asleep until 10pm. We got the train down to London and got to the hotel about 5pm.
"I lay down on my bed to watch TV. I fell asleep and didn't find out what the draw was until five hours later.''
