Moyes: Victory gets Everton's blood pumping

David Moyes believes Everton's season will finally take a turn for the better now that the "blood is pumping through the veins again" after his side's 1-0 Europa League triumph at AEK Athens.

Everton's campaign has got off to a slow start partly thanks to a heavy injury toll that saw players out of position in the backs-to-the-wall win which put the club though to the last 32.

After a heartening performance in the Merseyside derby loss to Liverpool, Everton broke through for just their second win in 12 matches thanks to Diniyar Bilyaletdinov's strike.

"I feel as if the blood is pumping through the veins again,'' said a delighted Moyes. "I think that a result and performance like this can get the players going and if it does then that's great. This has helped in the past and I'm sure it will boost our confidence but it is still going to be very tough.

"The players know what is required to start getting results and (last night's) performance will help. We want to build on this and I think things will be even better when we get some of the players missing through injuries back.''

It remains to be seen at what cost Everton's return to winning ways has come, however, as defenders Dan Gosling and Sylvain Distin, along with striker Jo, were all forced off due to injuries to add to the club's ever-growing crocked list.

Everton take their new verve into tricky Premier League meetings with Tottenham and Chelsea before a Europa League dead rubber at home to BATE Borisov.
