Hertha chief admits facing biggest crisis in 12 years

Hertha Berlin general manager Michael Preetz admits the club are in the midst of their "biggest sporting crisis" for 12 years but believes they will stay up.

Hertha, who have been in the top-flight since 1997, are six points adrift at the foot of the Bundesliga table, and seven from safety, having lost 11 of their opening 14 games of the season.

"Hertha are living through probably the biggest sporting crisis since being promoted to the Bundesliga," Preetz said in Kicker. "Many have already written us off but, for me, giving up is taboo.

"It doesn't make sense to tear ourselves apart. We have to stick together. We at Hertha rise again and again and we will do it this time as well. Seven points are to be made up. We can still do it."
