Fiorentina warn Italy off making Prandelli approach
Fiorentina owner Diego Della Valle has told Italy officials they will have a fight on their hands if they want to appoint Cesare Prandelli as national coach after the World Cup.
Italy boss Marcello Lippi, who has made no comment, is widely expected to take up a role as Juventus director after next June's tournament and Fiorentina's Prandelli has won admirers for a his cool persona and tactical acumen.
But Della Valle says he has no intention of allowed the Viola coach to lead the Azzurri in their qualification campaign for Euro 2012.
"We are not even considering that he can leave," he was quoted as saying in Tuesday's Gazzetta dello Sport.
